The word
Okay, either no one is reading me anymore or everyone has upgraded their browsers to IE7 and has lost their user name and password to access this site. I am feeling a little whiney and pouty and I wish I could logically figure out a way to have unresticted readers without the worry that some freako will be looking at pictures of my daughter. I guess I could just use her blog for the pictures and give everyone the password to that . . . I don't know. I just miss the days when I felt like I had more commentary going on. Am I that boring now that I am a Mom?
Anyway, for those who guessed, great guesses! But her first "real" word was FISH! She has one of these aquariums strapped to the side of her crib and we are constantly pointing out her fish and saying, "Goodnight fish!" and "Good morning fish!" She picked up on it and "fish" is now her new word. :-)
I welcome any ideas on the password protection issue . . .

Awww..."FISH!" How cute!!
I think you might be on the right track with only putting her photos on the photo blog, and un-passwording this one. I think that's a good way to protect Ainsley, while still having an online dialog.

If it's just the pictures that is your concern, then yes you have a great idea by posting them on her site but you can still tell us about Ainsley here!
I think there's a huge difference in the ttc community and those who've moved on from there....there's not as much support (sadly) when you're not ttc. Part of that has to do with the audience; if your readers have also moved on to have kids, it's harder to comment just because there's a little one now to attend to. If your readers are still trying, many times they will turn away from your blog because you're not "one of them" anymore.
It is frustrating. I noticed a huge drop off in comments after my son was born, particularly from those still trying. Now I seem to only get comments from other moms, which is great but I also miss hearing from the "original" crew too, ya know?
Couple all that with being password protected, it is harder to get comments. Sounds like you have a good solution though!

I still read, every M-F and usually at least once on the weekends. I think un-passwording this blog and just posting pictures and very personal details on her blog is a great way to go. You could give that password to people if you want, or not. Or you could give it out and if you started to feel uncomfortable just change the password.
I don't get many comments on my blog, but even seeing the amount of hits go from one thing and then drop down for a week or two gets me kind of angry.

I don't mind having the boys' pictures on my site because I figure people look at them when we are in public and I don't really see the difference online.

Damn. Damn! I was gonna say fish! :)
As for commenting, I'm a horrible commenter. But I'm always reading, I promise. I miss comments, too - but that's what happened when I deleted my other journal.

I'm not good at remembering the password-protected blogs because they don't turn up in bloglines. I'll definitely read more if you unpassword protect!
